I’ve been a real estate professional in the South Bay for over 30 years, and I’m proud to call this community my home. My journey began after I graduated from USC with a Master’s degree in Real Estate Finance. While I was still in college, I earned my contractor’s license and started renovating homes in the South Bay. That hands-on experience, paired with selling foreclosures for local banks, gave me a solid foundation in both construction and real estate. It showed me what it takes to build and sell homes from the ground up, and that knowledge continues to be a cornerstone of my career.
As someone who’s lived in the South Bay my entire life, I bring a deep understanding of this community, its neighborhoods, its people, and the unique real estate market. Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road to success is rarely smooth, and mine has been no exception. I’ve learned that challenges are just part of the journey, it’s how you handle them that makes the difference. Life has a way of throwing up roadblocks, but I’ve always tried to keep a positive attitude and focus on moving forward. I love the old Zen proverb about being like water: when water hits a rock, it doesn’t stop, it flows around it. That mindset has guided me through the ups and downs of my career in real estate.
Early on, when I was balancing renovations, selling foreclosures, and building my expertise, there were definitely tough moments. But those experiences taught me resilience and adaptability, which have been invaluable in shaping my work as a Top Manhattan Beach realtor and leader of the Caskey Real Estate Group.
Now, as an eXp Realtor with eXp Realty Icon Status, I’ve embraced the idea of constantly learning. Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
When you’re just starting out, my advice is simple: don’t be afraid to try anything. Every opportunity is a building block for your future. Commit fully to whatever you choose to do and give it your absolute best. For me, those early days renovating homes and selling foreclosures in the South Bay were invaluable. Also, don’t hesitate to ask questions of those who’ve been successful. Earlier in my career, I learned how much the older generation values initiative and how eager they are to share their knowledge.
