As the vibrant blooms of spring approach, Manhattan Beach residents eagerly anticipated the unveiling of the city's exciting lineup of spring and summer camps and activities. The Manhattan Beach Parks and Recreation Department has curated diverse programs to keep children and adults engaged and entertained throughout the warmer months. Registration opened for MB residents on February 26th, and non-MB residents can secure their spots starting March 11th. Manhattan Beach caters to a wide array of interests, offering camps that span sports, arts, technology, and outdoor adventures. Whether your kids are budding artists, sports enthusiasts, or outdoor explorers, there's a camp tailored just for them. To name a few on the lineup of extensive options:
- Surf Camp: Surfers will spend a week in small peer groups that are age and skill-appropriate. Essential skills include balance training, paddling, the "pop-up", oceanography, and catching waves.
- Junior Lifeguard Camp: Junior Lifeguard Camp is designed to educate and train our participants on the skills necessary to safely and confidently enjoy our oceans. Unlike other Junior Lifeguard programs, our program provides a relaxed and fun environment with incredibly low instructor-to-participant ratios of 1:6 and a small class size of only 12 campers. - REC Summer Camp: REC Campers will enjoy the benefits of outdoor activities and sports, and participate in hands-on arts and crafts projects while making new friends and lifelong memories. Each week will feature a new theme and creative projects designed to keep campers engaged and having fun this summer! Weekly at Manhattan Heights Park & Live Oak Park.
- STEM Programs: For the tech-savvy and future innovators, STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) programs provide hands-on learning experiences that are as educational as they are enjoyable.
- Arts and Crafts: Unleash your creativity in the arts and crafts camps. Explore painting, drawing, pottery, and more in a supportive and inspiring environment.
- Special Events: Keep an eye out for special events sprinkled throughout the season. Community gatherings, festivals, and themed celebrations will add an extra layer of excitement to your spring and summer plans.
